What Nobody Tells You About Your First 5 Years of Retirement (The Sequence Risk Trap)

Imagine two people retiring at the same age. Same savings, same portfolio mix, same average return over the next 25 years. One of them is still comfortable at 87. The other runs dry at 79.

Nothing separates them except the order their returns shows up in.

That’s sequence risk. It’s the reason a 7% average return can produce two completely different retirements, and it’s almost invisible going in, because averages are exactly what hide it. Worse, it does most of its damage in the first five years after you stop working, right when you assume the hard part is behind you.

In this video I go through why forty years of investing experience does nothing to prepare you for it, and the three defenses that take the guesswork out of those first five years.

Nobody gets to pick which market they retire into. The goal is a plan that holds up either way.

If you want to know how exposed your own plan is to this, book a call through this link. We’ll go through your numbers and identify potential gaps while there’s still time to address them.
