Glen D. Smith, CFP®, CRPC®

Glen Smith, the CEO and CIO of GDS Wealth Management, earned his bachelor’s degree in Management and International Business from Sonoma State University and previously served as a Senior Vice President and Financial Adviser with Merrill Lynch before founding GDS Wealth Management. He has attained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification and is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ (CRPC®). In 2020, the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) approved Glen to act as a Registered Player Financial Advisor.

With more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry, Glen has developed comprehensive knowledge in wealth management and financial planning. As the founder, CEO, and CIO, Glen is most proud of the client-focused culture GDS has built, one rooted in service, integrity, and accountability. He leads the GDS team by example, promoting a philosophy of servant leadership and a strong commitment to client care.

Glen has been quoted in several national publications, including The New York Times, The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, CNBC, and Investor’s Business Daily, where he has provided market commentary and perspective on industry trends. He has also participated in interviews with Fox Business, BBC News, The Schwab Network, BNN Bloomberg, Reuters, and Cheddar TV. Since 2019, Glen has been recognized on Forbes’ Best-in-State Wealth Advisors list by SHOOK Research, which considers factors such as experience, client service, and community involvement.

Born in California, Glen grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where his parents were career missionaries. He remains active in the Guayaquil community, supporting organizations that provide meals and resources to malnourished children. Glen now lives in Flower Mound, Texas, with his wife, Gisella, and their children, Nathalia and Lucas. The Smith family are members and active volunteers at RockPointe Church and enjoy giving back to their local community. In his spare time, Glen enjoys playing tennis, traveling with his family, attending his children’s sporting events, and spending time together at home.
